Two creatively inclined fright film fanatics, David Blair and Adam Pitman, began BadFritter Films in the summer of 2004. Their first short film, The Love Poem was filmed on a mini DV camera and a budget of twenty dollars. The short was Blair and Pitman's first attempt at a serious film; all previous projects had been comical and experimental. The Love Poem premiered to a limited audience but garnered many favorable reviews. The short film combined with Pitman's ambition to make a full length feature was enough to prompt Adam Stilwell, the third founding partner to join the team. The trio began filming their conceived story Roulette in November of 2004. Their goal was to create an almost entirely improvised horror feature. After overcoming many obstacles and working within the limitations of a $500 budget, the film was completed in just under a year and entered into the independent film circuit. The film premiered at the Fargo Fantastic Film Festival in October 2005 and promptly won the award for "Best First Feature". Roulette then went onscreen at the O'Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish, Montana on Halloween night and quickly gained a cult following. Roulette attracted the attention of investors who are now funding BadFritter Films' next project, Paper Dolls. This psychological thriller is slated to begin filming in May of 2006. With a solid production team, Pitman, Stilwell and Blair are moving forward in the film industry, confident up-and-comers to watch for in the future. |
